Challenge
CITY|SPACE, a non-profit art organization co-founded and co-directed by Matthew Myers, curated and presented Wish You Were Here: The Souvenir and Urban Memory exhibition re-imagining the souvenirs unique position between landscape, memento and memory. CITY|SPACE received over 90 submissions for its call to reinterpret the traditional souvenir of the San Francisco Bay Area. Submissions were presented in the form of a souvenir themselves, a postcard, and the 35 most original were chosen for the exhibition. The exhibition space, a vacant storefront, was re-designed as a souvenir shop with the artists works often reproduced in multiples and displayed for sale. In addition to the exhibition, CITY|SPACE teamed up with the non-profit organization Porchlight for an evening of souvenir storytelling
